We are primarily data driven with domain expertise delivering insights to water networks and assets using analytics, presentation, machine learning and AI that is SAAS and cloud based.
We are building on our existing team to onward develop our existing products, and continue growing our customer offerings, base and revenues.
The Role:
We are seeking a skilled System and IT Engineer to join our Operations team. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in IT infrastructure management, Operating systems, endpoint security, asset management, and IT compliance. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving our technical infrastructure, ensuring security and operational efficiency across the IT landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Infrastructure & System Administration:
- Manage and maintain IT environments, including Windows, Linux, and macOS systems.
- Ensure system performance, availability, and reliability.
- Perform patch management, software updates, and OS hardening.
- Endpoint Security & Compliance:
- Administer enterprise antivirus and endpoint protection solutions.
- Implement and manage security policies across devices and operating systems.
- Support IT compliance initiatives such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, and GDPR.
- Microsoft & Google Workspace Administration:
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
- Administer email security, OneDrive, SharePoint, and collaboration tools.
- Ensure adherence to security best practices and data protection policies.
- Asset & Software Management:
- Track IT assets, including hardware, software licenses etc
- Manage software deployment, provisioning, and decommissioning.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT resources.
- Networking & Infrastructure Support:
- Assist in managing firewalls, VPNs, and network security configurations.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and optimize performance.
- Support infrastructure projects such as system migrations and upgrades.
- Incident Management & Technical Support:
- Provide support for IT systems and end-user issues.
- Identify and resolve system vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks.
- Document IT processes, troubleshooting guides, and system configurations.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Automate routine system administration tasks and deployments.
- Improve IT operational efficiency through scripting and tool integrations.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Degree-level education in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an IT operations, system administration, or IT security role.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS administration.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux
- Experience with enterprise antivirus, endpoint security, and compliance tools.
- Proficiency in managing Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments.
- Familiarity with IT asset management best practices.
- Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- IT certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or Google Professional IT Administrator, Certified AWS SysOps administrator
- Experience with security frameworks (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST, etc.).
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Experience developing custom scripts in Python, Bash, PowerShell, GoLang or similar language
- Experience of Agile Scrum, Lean or Kanban using JIRA, or similar agile tracking tool
