More and more, StormHarvester are tackling problems and projects that require hydraulic modelling experience. The Data & Modelling team has hydraulic modelling expertise, and are looking to expand this.
About the role:
This is a pragmatic and delivery-focused role in the use of data, analytics, and hydraulic modelling to deliver bespoke outcomes for StormHarvester customers as part of our Data & Modelling team. This role is ideal for a Hydraulic Modeller, Project Engineer, Project Scientist, Urban Drainage Modeller or similar, who is interested in expanding their data analytics skillset within Python while still utilising existing modelling skills. You’ll be part of a fast-moving, collaborative, cross-functional team with room to develop your skills in applying novel data-driven techniques. We will offer time and resources to upskill where needed.
The role will have ownership over projects and work with customers to deliver timely results. This will involve:
- Gaining an understanding of the StormHarvester product
- Helping scope and deliver projects to customers using the StormHarvester platform, data analysis and visualisation, and running simulations in Infoworks ICM.
- Working with StormHarvester development team to improve functionality of tooling.
You will have ownership over individual work and projects, while working within the Data & Modelling team. You’ll have opportunities to advocate for current best practice within the industry to ensure StormHarvester is addressing customer needs. The approaches you design will be used by water utilities to predict and prevent real-time pollution events and inform capital investment decisions, contributing to improving environmental quality.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Data & Modelling team to deliver projects to customers.
- Independently working on projects, taking time estimations and urgency into consideration.
- Engaging with customers to understand contextual requirements of projects, present findings and lead integration into StormHarvester product.
- Identification of bugs/changes and support issues as part of wider engineering team.
Essential Criteria:
- A third level qualification.
- 3+ years of experience working with Infoworks ICM or similar hydraulic modelling software.
- Experience working with QGIS or similar.
- Experience with data exploration and visualisation.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to engage and work with others as part of team with shared direction.
- Strong work ethic with an understanding that this is a fast-growing company with lots of opportunities to make improvements and to move quickly.
- Ability to review and provide feedback as needed to other team members on areas for improvements and updates.
- Strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Can do, problem solving mindset.
- Curious and willing to onward develop and learn.
Desirable Criteria:
· Relevant higher degree (Masters or PhD)
· Experience with Python, including libraries such as Pandas and Geopandas.
· Experience with Ruby scripting in Infoworks ICM Exchange.
· Experience with Software Engineering / Data Science in the Wastewater sector.
· Familiarity with cloud computing (AWS or other cloud computing platform)
· Familiarity and experience with agile delivery
· Experience working with water company clients or 3rd party contractors.
· Experience of model build and verification, including flow survey scoping and management.
· Experience of options development to reduce flooding or spills.
